Rangitoto: volcanic landscape, preserved baches, and tuis

Went to Rangitoto with a friend from London, Mark. The ferry makes a brief stop in Davenport and drops us off on an island of trails – one up to the summit and a few looping around to look at the lava caves. I tried unsuccessfully to photograph the many tuis singing kookily in the trees. Rangitoto last erupted 600 years ago but they think it is dormant rather than extinct – no sign of any activity luckily!
