Melbourne: Federation square

I did a free 1 hour tour with Janine who was quite detailed and interesting. The square was finished in 2002 after a contest to pick the design. The rock for the cobbles was sourced from Kimberley and laid out in ‘global whorls’ so when it rains the colours are saturated. There are beehives on the roof of some buildings also and a box garden at the back. There is an art gallery and moving image museum on site.
