I’m in Korari, Wellington, high on a hill with many public footpaths that range from well signposted to clandestine in parts. Down some stairs, through a tunnel and along a cul de sac and I’m in the Wellington Botanic Garden, or perhaps the winding path might be leading me elsewhere? It is only thanks to the directional guidance of my GPS that I can even approach these footpaths! The first turn I made out of Stephen’s lovely house was wrong. But there were only two options luckily. It was only by sheer will I got going – I put my feet up this morning and enjoyed the sun streaming through the windows, a tea, and a read of the Economist.
