Wai-O-Tapu (Sacred Waters) geothermal springs

It began with a performance from the Lady Knox geyser (induced by some environmentally neutral soap) and finished with the milky neon green Devil’s Bath. It has just struck me that though these are sacred waters, many of them have the word ‘devil’ in their names!

Wai-O-Tapu is an interesting array of springs ranging from bubbling cauldrons of gloopy mud to a fizzing Champagne pool. We were warned by the shuttle driver that a couple of people had accidentally lost their cameras to the bubbling inferno recently. Luckily my little fella didn’t stray..!
