Rotorua museum & Government Gardens

Yes I really did go to two places today and take many photos (this batch was with my iPhone)!

The Rotorua museum deserves its great reputation – it has commissioned bright and creative people to make some awesome displays including a cartoon explanation of why the original Maori might have left the Pacific Islands for NZ and a movie about the previous baths in the building and geothermal activity. There were plenty of primary sources on the baths which had been bedevilled by problems when they first opened and were shut in the 1960s. I’m not a museum buff, especially not on a beautiful sunny day, but this place held me happily captive for over 2 hours.

I couldn’t help notice a BC totem pole standing next to the rose garden.
